Very common breeding resident occurs in
home gardens, cultivation forest edges and scrub lands throughout the country
but avoids deep forests. Red-vented Bulbul lives as pairs but some time
gathered as small flocks. Its main food consist of varies berries and insects.
It is a prolific bird which breeds several times of the year while main
breeding seasons are from March to May and again August to September. The nest
is a cup made up of small twigs, fibers, rootlets bound together by cobwebs
where it lays 2-3 eggs.

Up to last evening our garden in Ukuwela Matale was full of these birds.There was a little nest with three little ones of a few days old and the parents were busy feeding them all the time especially last afternoon.This morning I find that not only the three little ones are missing from their nest,not a single 'Kondakurulla'is in the garden which was full of them last few months.Can anyone enlighten me on this?
ReplyDeleteThey big bird trynna teach them how to fly . So the leave the nest and never come back . Bird who able to fly they could survive, others wont survive

We are faced with the same situation and we are very upset. up to yesterday evening both were feeding a chick. but we always check before closing the door and noticed that the big bird has not come home up to mid night. Only difference is we see one of the big birds even this morning, can some one help please
ReplyDeletesame situation in here i found a lil bird with broken leg . When i put him outside . The elders birds come and feed him .but chick is trying to fly away from us .but he couldn’t properly fly with that broken lag : (

DeleteOne pair of konda kurulla made nest in a lamp shade.two egs there ,unfortunately one morning kurulla caught by a cat i saw. At noon kirilli cried & cried all over the garden for searching kurulla till in the evening. But no response she feed the infant.yet she is alone morning ,noon and evening she went out and searching food.Is she alone forever? or what will happen

ReplyDeleteThere is a nest in inside our house where is the lamp shade. and there is a tiny egg. issue is, its been weeks that the mother bird visited the nest. the egg is still there. what should we do. is it possible for us to warm the egg with cloths or cotton until the baby bird hatch? any solutions? ReplyDeleteකොණ්ඩ කුරුලු ජෝඩුවක් මම දෙන කෑම කන්න නිතර එනවා.මම දැක්ක ගමන් මගේ අසළටම එයාලා එනවා.කුරුල්ලන්ට කෑම,වතුර අපි හැමදාම තියනවා.මේ දෙන්නා අපේ සාලයේ කූඩුවක් හැදුවා.දින 2/3කට කලින් බිත්තර දාලා තිබුනා.ඒත් පෙරේදා උදේ එක බිත්තයක් බිම වැටිලා පොඩි වෙලා තිබුනා.බිත්තර බිම වැටෙන නිසා කූඩුව යටින් මම වියනක් බැන්දා.ඊයේ හවස වෙනකන් කිරිල්ලි කූඩුවේ හිටියා.ඒත් රෑ වෙද්දි කූඩුවේ නැති නිසා අවට බලද්දී අපි දැක්කා අනිත් බිත්තයත් පොඩි වෙලා වැටිලා තියෙනවා.මෙය ඉතා කණගාටුදායක දෙයක් උනා අපිට.මමත් ගැබිණි කාන්තාවක් නිසා.අද උදේ එයාලා ආවේ නෑ.වෙනද වගඅ මම කෑම දෙන්න කතා කලා.ටික වෙලාවක් ගියාම එයාල කෑම කන්න ආවා.ඒත් එයාලා ආය බිත්තර දාන්න මේ කූඩුවට එන්නෙ නැතිද? සදහටම අපෙන් ඈත් වෙලා යාවිද..හිතට මහත් දුකක්. කුරුල්ලන් පිළිබඳව දන්නා කෙනෙක් මේ බව පැහැදිලි කරලා දෙන්නකෝ.ඔව්න් දෙදෙනා ගැන තිබූ විශ්වාසය රැක දෙන්න බැරි උනානේ.
