ගස් කොතල[Gas Kotala](Artanema longifolium)

Rather rare native herb found under shade along forest borders, waste lands and paddy field borders from wet lowlands to about 1100 m elevations in lower hills. Flowering from May to November. 

Bluewings/Wishbone flower (Torenia fournieri)

Native herb of Indo China. Introduced and cultivated in gardens. Flowering from March to June and September (Possibly in other months as well). Various cultivars with pink, violet and blue flowers exist.

Torenia polygonoides [Legazpia polygonoides]

Recent addition to the Flora of Sri Lanka*. Rather rare introduced herb of marshy areas of the southwestern wet zone. Usually grows under shade of shrubs. But also occurs on open places.

Fringed false pimpemel (Bonnaya ciliata [Syn: Lindernia ciliata])

An indigenous herb grows in wet places among grass and on damp rocks in the dry lowlands and the wet hills up to about 650 m a.s.l. Less commonly occurs also in the wet lowlands. Flowering throughout the year. 

Torenia anagallis [Syn: Lindernia anagallis]

An indigenous small herb common in harvested paddy fields and pond edges in wet lowlands and up to 550 m altitude in the wet hills. It usually grows in association with Lindernia rotundifolia. Flowering throughout the year.

Common indigenous decumbent or prostrate herb occurs among grass in paddy fields, roadsides, tank and pond edges and humus-filled rocky hollows in wet and dry lowlands and up to about 550 m altitude in the wet hills. Flowering throughout the year.

Torenia courtallensis [Syn: Torenia aerinea]

Prostrate herb with ascending branches grows under shade in damp grassy grounds in the upper hills above 1800m a.s.l.Flowering throughout the year. 

Torenia crustacea [Syn: Lindernia crustacea]

An indigenous prostrate herb in wet grassy places, paddy fields after harvest and along tanks in wet and dry lowlands. Very common and flowering throughout the year. 

Lindernia rotundifolia

An indigenous herb common in harvested paddy fields in wet lowlands to wet hills up to about 550m altitude. Also along ditches in the hill country up to 1700 m and along borders of tanks in the lowlands. Flowering throughout the year.

Torenia cyanea

An endemic herb with creeping stems, occurs between 160m to 1800m elevations from wet lowlands to hills.  Much common in the hill country. Usually found among short grasses in shaded places near streams.  Flowering throughout the year.

Yamazakia pusilla [Syn: Lindernia pusilla]

An indigenous common prostrate to ascending herb grows near paddy fields and tank or pond edges from both wet and dry lowlands to about 1000m altitude.  Flowering throughout the year.

Torenia leucosiphon [As Torenia travancorica]

Common indigenous herb of shaded footpaths usually along forest borders of wet low country and lower hills. This Torenia species can be distinguished from other three species grows in Sri Lanka by orange-yellow color of lower half of corolla tube.  Flowering throughout the year.
