An indigenous low shrub occurs in shady moist areas, along streams or borders of tea estates and open places or cleared slopes along roadsides among bushes or patana margins mainly in the Kandy district. Flowering from January to March. Fruits edible and collecting to make Jam.

වල් රෝස[Wal Rosa] (Rubus leucocarpus)










An scrambling shrub with prickles, occurs as two varieties.
1) var. leucocarpus - Occurs in open thickets, jungle paths or by road banks in montane areas.                                               Flowering from December to March (Probably in other months as well),
2) var. tomentosa - Under growth of dense mossy forests, open places in forests, forest edges, road                                      embankments and stream banks in upper montane areas above 2000m a.s.l.

An indigenous straggling shrub in montane forests, secondary forest borders, jungle roadsides, hilly slopes and shady areas close to streams from 300 to 2000 m a.s.l. Flowering throughout the year. Glossy red fruits are edible.
