Hybrid glory-bower vine (Clerodendrum x speciosum)

An introduced shrub widely cultivated in gardens. Flowering from February to April and August to September. A hybrid between Clerodendrum splendens and Clerodendrum thomsoniae.

බූ සේරු[Bu-Seru](Premna tomentosa)

Common native tree or shrub grows in the dry and intermediate low country up to about 1200 m (1500 m?) altitude. Wood use in carving, furniture building and construction industries. Leaves, roots and barks have medicinal values. 

හැමනිල්ල[Hemanilla] (Pogostemon auricularius)

An indigenous annual herb occurs among short grass along roadside ditches, paddy field borders, and boggy places in the wet lowlands up to about 1000 m a.s.l. Flowering from October to June. 

Glossocarya scandens

Rather rare indigenous straggling shrub or woody vine occurs in the dry zone forests.

Pogostemon hirsutus

Common endemic herb in under shade of montane and sub montane forests. Often close to the water sources. Flowering from October to March.

මිදි ගස්/මහ මිදි/හීන් මිදි/වල්-වෙල්-මිදි [Midi Gas/Maha Midi/Heen Mii/Wal-Wel-Midi]/Headache Tree(Premna serratifolia [Syn: Premna obtusifolia/Premna divaricata])

An indigenous shrub or tree common in coastal areas and mangroves. Flowering from December to March and August to September. Fruits black when ripe. Leaves and roots used in medicine and wood in constructions  industry.

Scutellaria violacea

Common indigenous herb occurs under shade in damp areas, often close to the watercourses in submontane and montane forest areas from 600-1400m (variety violacea) a.s.l. and 2000-2400 m a.s.l. (variety hirsuta). Flowering throughout the year.

නික/නිල්-නික/හෙලරික[Nika/Nil-Nika/Helarika]/Chaste-tree (Vitex negundo)

An indigenous tree found on the banks of rivers, streams and tank edges in the low country, especially in the dry zone and coastal areas up to about 3000ft a.s.l. Also cultivated due to its medicinal value and as an ornamental plant in home gardens. Whole plant medicinal and leaves use as an insect -repellent. 

නැබඩ[Nebada] (Vitex leucoxylon)

Common indigenous tree occurs in dry monsoon and intermediate forest canopy. Especially found near banks of streams, rivers and tank edges. Leaves and roots are medicinal.
