දාඹු[Dhambu] (Lepisanthes tetraphylla)

An indigenous shrub or moderate size tree, common in dry zone forests (var. tetraphylla).

Variety trichocarpa which is endemic to the island and rarely occurs in the forests of moist regions up to 700 elevations, is frequent around the Kandy. Flowering from March to May.

An introduced fruit tree native to Thailand and Malaysia. Widely cultivated in wet and intermediate zones up to 600 m a.s.l. Also naturalized. Flowering in April and November, Fruits from July to August and December to January.

Common native tree of dry and intermediate zone forests up to 700 m elevations. Flowering from March to April and fruiting from April to August. Bark and oils extracted from seeds are used in medicine.

බූ-කොබ්බෑ\කොබ්බෑ[Bu-kobbe\Kobbe] (Allophylus cobbe)

Common indigenous shrub or small tree grows in moist low country and lower montane forest areas. Also occurs in the forests of  the dry region. Flowering from March to May and again September to October.  All parts of the plant are used to prepare medicinal oils for use on fracture. Veddas use wood to make bows.
