ගුරු කීන[Guru Kina] (Calophyllum calaba)

An indigenous tree common in the coastal parts of the dry zone, talawas of the dry and intermediate zone and rarely in the wet zone forests. Sometimes planted for its edible fruits. Flowering from January to June and fruiting from January to September.

නා/නාමල්[Na/Namal]/Iron Wood (Mesua ferrea)

The national tree of Sri Lanka though not endemic to the country. Much cultivated as an ornamental in Buddhist temples and home gardens or as an avenue tree along roads. Wild trees found usually in river valleys in wetter part of the island up to about 1000 m a.s.l. Wood extremely hard. Flowers and leaves used in traditional medicine.

දොඹ/තෙල් දොඹ[Domba,Tel-Domba]/Alexandrian Laurel (Calophyllum inophyllum)

Common indigenous tree occurs mainly in the lowland coastal areas. Inland plants are either planted as ornamental or spontaneous.  Oil extracted from the seeds use as lamp oil, soap making and also painting wood works. Whole plant medicinal.
