An indigenous herb with branching stems, occurs in open sunny places such as among bushes in tea plantations and roadsides from mid hills to higher hills. Often forms large mats covering considerable space. Flowering throughout the year.

An introduced herb native to the South America. Introduced to Sri Lanka as an ornamental, prior to 1882. Escaped and naturalized in the cultivated grounds and disturbed areas of mid country and higher elevation. Flowering probably throughout the year. Flowers open around 9. AM and close early afternoon.

මහ ඇඹුල්ඇඹිලිය[Maha Ambulabiliya]/Manikwatte Weed/Broad leaved sorrel (Oxalis latifolia)

Native herb of South America. Introduced to Sri Lanka by the Botanic garden before 1879 and naturalized in disturbed places and cultivated grounds from mid hills to higher elevations. Flowering periodically throughout the year. Flowers open in the morning and close early afternoon.

කාමරංගා[Kamaranga]/Carambola apple/Chinese Gooseberry (Averrhoa carambola)

A small tree native to Malayan region. Introduced and widely cultivated in low to mid elevation home gardens. Flowering throughout the year with peaks in April to June. Fruit edible and fruits, leaves, seeds and flowers are used in medicine.

Very common introduced herb found all over the island in cultivated grounds, wastelands, roadsides etc.. Native plant of European Mediterranean region. Flowering throughout the year and flowers open around 9.00AM and close early afternoon.
