Variegated Flutterer (Rhyothemis variegata variegata)

Very common dragonfly found throughout the year usually as large groups near weedy tanks, streams, paddy fields and marsh areas of  low country.

  1. Nice one, Bushana.
I find it a photogenic species.

  2. I think I have captured it too. Dosen't it have the habit of fluttering around shurbs and other small vegetations rather than perching like most other species of dragonflies ? (This is something I noticed in my garden several times)

  3. Patali. yes you are correct. I also observed that it is a habit of this dragonfly to fluttering around weedy areas most of the time close to a pond or a stream, usually as a group of several of them. Anyway it also perch on shrubs and this is one of few such a instance when I could capture it while resting on a shrub.
