An endemic palm with ‘black compressed
spined trunk’ unlike much common Kithul palm (Caryota urens). It grows in wet
lowland hilly areas such as foothills of Peak wilderness, Sinharaja, knuckles range
etc. Usually found in steep rocky outcrops as clusters of trees.
Looks like fox-tail palm?
ReplyDelete:) Perhaps look like, but has entirely different features. Most importance one is it doesn't have a spined trunk like Katu Kithul (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wodyetia)
