ගස්-ලබු/පැපොල්/Papaya (Carica papaya)

Small tree with usually unbranched stem of about 5 to 7 m tall.  Native to tropical America and cultivated throughout the island. Fruits edible.

    comment added by Dhanesh Wisumperuma - A plant which was introduced by the Portuguese in 16th or 17th century. Paul Hermann probably collected it as it is mentioned in Flora Zeylanica which is based on Hermann's collection.
