Memecylon edule var. petiolatum [Syn: Memecylon petiolatum]

An indigenous large shrub or small tree grows on rock outcrops in the dry zone at low elevations. 

ඉඳි (Phoenix pusilla)

 An indigenous small palm widespread in the wet and dry lowlands up to 500 m elevations. Flowering in May and June. 

එළ නුග (Ficus amplissima)

 An indigenous large tree of open forests, mostly in the dry zone. Often planted. 

වල් කොල්ලු (Cajanus scarabaeoides [Syn: Atylosia scarabaeoides])

 An indigenous twining vine common in lowlands of both wet and dry zones. Flowering probably throughout the year, though most reports are from November to March. 

Vanilla/වැනිලා (Vanilla planifolia [Syn: Vanilla fragrans])

 An introduced liana native to South America. Cultivated for fermented pods which contains vanilla of commerce. The flowers need to be pollinated by hand since the pollinating bee species are not found outside of South America.

Gymnostachyum ceylanicum

An indigenous herb common under shade in intermediate zone forests, often in rocky grounds. Flowering from March to August.

An indigenous tree of dry zone forests from sea level to 500 m elevations. 

Purple potato vine/Brazilian nightshade (Solanum seaforthianum)

 An ornamental unarmed climber native to Brazil. Widely cultivated and perhaps occasionally naturalized.

 An indigenous undershrub of dry lowland areas. Often cultivated.

 An indigenous annual or perennial woody herb rather common in thickets, roadsides and among vegetation at base of granite outcrops.

Emilia baldwinii

 An endemic herb rather common along the shores on south and west coast, usually on sand. Rarely on rocks just behind the seashore.

 An indigenous shrub or tree of tidal forests (Mangroves) along  the coast and estuaries. 

ගොඩ රත්මල්/කොසත්ත (Blachia umbellata)

An indigenous shrub or small tree of medium to low elevation open forests of wet to intermediate zones, open places along watercourses and roadsides. 

දික්වැන්න/දික් ඇන්ද[Dikwenna/Dikandhe] (Pityranthe verrucosa [Syn: Diplodiscus verrucosus])

 An endemic tree locally very common in the dry monsoon forests.

Flower Size: 1.2 cm across

Glycosmis mauritiana

 An indigenous shrub of open forests in coastal and lowland areas both moist and rather dry country. Locally common. 

Murdannia simplex

 An indigenous perennial with basal rosette.  Locally common in shallow soil over rocks,  wet rocky and roadside banks from 875 to 900 m elevations. Flowering in December.

An indigenous shrub or small tree common in both wet and dry rainforests up to 700 m elevations. 

Pilea melastomoides

 
An indigenous tall herb or undershrub common in damp shady places of wet zone forests from 700 to 2000 m elevations. Flowering and fruiting from March to September.
