Native plant of India. Widely cultivated in Sri Lanka. Flowering from August to September.

  2. @Jagath - Yes Sinhalese name Heen-araththa also used for this plant. However Alpinia galanga or Kaluwala of same Zingiberaceae family also known as Araththa.
