An endemic bird inhabiting dense forest undergrowth and sometimes in adjoining tea estates from mid hills to higher hills, while local and rather uncommon in the higher hills and rare in mid hills. It is territorial and lives as pairs.
Sri Lanka Warbler feeds on small insects like crickets by skulking low among bushes of the undergrowth, while flying seldom only when needed to move from one patch of undergrowth to another. It breeds from February to May and again in September by building a large nest (Comparatively to its size) with a deep cup by moss, grass, bamboo leaves etc. and lines with fine fibres. The nest usually place in a dense shrub, about two or three feet from the ground where it lays two eggs.
