කඳුකරයේ වනාන්තර, ගෙවතු, වගා බිම් වල සහ කලාතුරකින් පහතරට ඇතැම් තෙත් ප්‍රදේශ වලද දැකිය හැකි මෙරටට ආවේනික පක්ෂියෙකි අඳුරු නිල් මැසිමාරා හෙවත් අනු මැසිමාරා. එබඳු ප්‍රදේශ වල සුලභව හමුවේ. බොහෝවිට අඳුරු ගස් අතු අතර සිටිමින් ඉගිලෙන කෘමීන් ගුවනේදී අල්වාගනී. ප්‍රධාන වශයෙන් කෘමීන් ගොදුරු කර ගත්තද කුඩා ගෙඩි වර්ගද අඳුරු නිල් මැසිමාරාගේ ආහාරයට ඇතුලත්ය. වසරේ මාර්තු, අප්‍රේල් මාස වල හා අගෝස්තු - සැප්තැම්බර් කාලයේ ගස් බෙනයක හෝ මාර්ගයක් අසබඩ කණ්ඩියක දියසෙවෙල්, මීවන මුල් සහ කෙඳි වර්ග උපයෝගි කරගනිමින් සාදන කූඩුවක බිත්තර 2 ක් හෝ කලාතුරකින් 3 ක් දමා අභිජනනයේ යෙදෙයි.

ඇල්බැද්ද[Elbedda] (Meliosma simplicifolia pungens)

An indigenous tree common in hill forests from about 1600 m to about 2200 m elevations (Variety pungens). Variety simplicifolia grows from 300 to 900 m elevations in primary and secondary moist evergreen forests of central and southern provinces.

දෑකැති දෙමලිච්චා/ශ්‍රී ලංකා දෑ දෙමලිච්චා[Daekaeti Demalichcha/Sri Lanka Dae Demalichcha]/Sri Lanka Scimitar-babbler (Pomatorhinus melanurus)

Sri Lanka Scimitar-babble is an uncommon endemic bird inhabiting forests and well wooded areas as well as the adjoining scrubs and home gardens throughout the country though rather rare in the dry lowlands. It lives as pairs or as family parties and often associates with feeding flocks consisting of other birds and travel through the forest in search of its insect prey in bark crevices, moss covered tree trunks, dead leaves etc. It breeds from March to May and again at the end of the year. The nest is a closed globular with a side entrance made out of grass blades, dead leaves, twigs and fibers, placed among dense herbage, ferns, etc. close to the ground or sometimes in a tree cavity or a deep fork. It lays two or three white eggs in it.

Two races occurs. Race melanurus peculiar to the low country wet zone and south-western hills while race horsfieldii found in dry lowlands and hills.

An endemic shrub or small tree, very common in the moist forests of the Central hills, usually above 1500 m a.s.l. Flowering beginning during April-May and continuing into November-December. During October-November flowers and mature fruits can be seen simultaneously on some trees.
