Ruff/ලොවිච්චි සිලිවටුවා/ලොවිච්චි හින්නා[Lowichchi /Siliwatuwa/Lowichchi Hinna] (Philomachus pugnax)
An uncommon winter migrant to marshlands, paddy fields, flooded meadows, lagoons and salt-pans, etc. mainly of the dry coastal areas. Rare in the wet zone coastal areas. Ruff occurs as single birds feeding alone with other waders or as several birds together. It feeds mainly on insects though sometimes eat grain such as paddy. It breeds in northern Europe and Asia.
