Rather rare breeding resident of dry lowland large tanks and lagoons. Very rarely occurs in wet lowlands and hills too. As other cormorants it is an expert diver and feeds mainly on fish. It lives usually as small flocks associating with other cormorants and such water birds. Great Cormorant breeds colonially from December to February . The nest usually place among the branches of a tree standing in shallow water.
