Blue-faced Malkoha/Small Green-billed Malkoha/වත නිල් මල්කොහා [Watanil Malkoha] (Phaenicophaeus viridirostris)

An uncommon breeding resident of scrubs, forest edges, well wooded gardens and secondary vegetations  from lowlands to mid hills of dry and intermediate zones. It is a very shy bird and when disturbed hides in dense foliage of scrubs and trees. It keeps in pairs and feeds on insects like crickets, mantises, etc skulking among  the branches of trees and bushes. The breeding season probably lasts throughout the year and Blue-faced Malkoha lays two eggs in a nest, an open saucer of twigs, lined with a few green leaves and placed in the middle of a small tree.
