An uncommon breeding resident inhabiting open scrublands, reedbeds and marshes from dry lowlands to mid hills. Rare in the wet zone. It lives as solitary birds, as pairs or sometimes as small flocks. Jacobin Cuckoo feeds mainly on insects such as grasshoppers, beetles, caterpillars, etc. As most of other cuckoos it is a parasitic on other birds and lays eggs mostly in the nests of Yellow-billed Babbler whose eggs closely resemble both in size and color to the Jacobin Cuckoo. It breeds probably all the year round but peaks can be observed from March to May and August to November. Jacobin Cuckoo is very noisy during the breeding season.
